so we're off to new zealand in two weeks.  yay!  oh, but much new garb must be sewn, and old garb mended.  to whit:  the rip in the side of the beautiful pea green dress must be repaired, and the big long string of red beads must be made, and some sort of horned caul must be constructed and the silk hemmed for the headdress.  then my adventure in viking begins, pale blue linen underdress is sort of under construction now, and the dark blue woolen apron dress after that  (i shall cheat and purchase hat and brooches at canterbury fair, but should probably dig up gigantic jar of glass beads and string some up for viking bling).  and then a need a new kirtle (same dark blue wool) and underdress (white linen).

busy!

windfalls!  of the most traditional kind!

in a slight interuption to my sewing schedule this afternoon, i am making plum sauce from the little yellow plums from the big tree across the road, and later this evening there will be pickled plums from a tree on the roadside on the way home from an auction (small, again, but ruby red).  feeling very thrifty and virtuous.
