We had a lovely weekend at Great Northern War!  The small girl had a fabulous time, made some new friends, and got filthy, bruised, bitten, burned, and bloody.  Oh, and covered in paint.  Her handsewn white linen underdresses (tell me, please, why they always seem like a good idea) are now being aggressively soaked.  I took brief umbrage at the number of hyperactive, overtired children left playing unattended with the fire, but apart from that I have nothing negative to say.  I may have spent too long in reading and writing slash fic now, though, because there's just something about a pair of sweaty fighters facing each other in the list field, weapons clenched in their sweaty fists, gently rubbing their thrusting tips together...well, you get the idea.

Oh honey ... I was there years before I discovered slash (ask his nibs about the two Americans that are obviously doing it ;-)

Glad you had a good time, I'm a bit sorry we bailed, but had a chance to catch up with deense and play with the cats, I have even cleaned up a little! Were you saying that you chaps were off to Melbourne soon? I feel the need to see you!

We are in Melb for Midwinter (and Anne was asking whether you are planning on coming down, too). And oh, the two dukes in question shall remain nameless, but Blondie and I were doing a running Mills-and-Boon commentary on it, accompanied by much giggling. Especially when one of them said quite loudly "I had it in there, I just couldn't get a good thrust!". They bring it on themselves!
I even got some sewing done, although it was only an underdress for the small girl, and a pile of linen napkins (I am civilising the masses!).

The linen underdress sounds like a good idea for a small child for the same reason they used it in period--one can boil it clean later, linen is a very durable fibre!

Yes, and now we have Nappi-San! She did look unbearably cute in her Viking garb and head-scarf...
